John Akira Fotos is Director of Sales and Business Development at HyperStrong, currently ranked Globally #3 and #1 in China among battery energy storage system (BESS) integrators, where he engages in market development and client partnerships for BESS solutions across Japan while also supporting broader initiatives throughout the Asia-Pacific.

With over a decade of experience in clean and renewable energy, John has contributed to the development, financing, and commercialization of more than 300 MW of solar facility projects in Japan and has supported multi-gigawatt solar and hydrogen pipelines across global markets, including supporting the structuring of a clean energy asset portfolio associated with one of the first IPOs of a renewable energy infrastructure fund in Japan.

His work spans utility-scale solar, energy storage, and digital energy software platforms, with a focus on bridging technical solutions, policy frameworks, and commercial transactions across international teams and stakeholders.

Fluent in both English and Japanese, John specializes in cross-cultural communication, consensus building, and market entry solutions, helping international energy companies navigate and adapt to Japan’s and broader global regulatory, commercial, and socio-cultural landscapes. His current work focuses on accelerating the deployment of energy storage to support grid resilience, renewable integration, and next-generation energy systems supporting pathways toward achieving global SDGs.”
