Somesh Shah is a solar and battery storage advisory professional with over 17 years of experience spanning the full arc of the industry — from utility-scale design and engineering in India’s early solar push to advising on GW-scale Solar+BESS hybrid and floating solar projects across Asia-Pacific. Based in Bangkok, he serves as Manager of International Solar Business at AFRY, a leading European engineering and advisory firm. In this capacity, he supports lenders, developers, utilities, and governments as Lender’s Technical Advisor, Owner’s Engineer, and Feasibility Consultant. His advisory portfolio includes multi-GW of solar PV, BESS, and floating solar projects across Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Taiwan, and beyond — with assignments for multilateral institutions including ADB, IFC, and the World Bank. Somesh also leads AFRY’s Global Solar Scrum, coordinating a network of international renewable energy specialists, and holds an MSc in Business Management — Green Energy and Climate Finance from the Berlin School of Economics.
